Spring is here (well almost) so as freshly minted leaves unfurl against aquamarine skies and bluebells erupt under the canopy of ancient woods we present some freshly minted jewels for your perusal (and a few drops for good measure)…
Disco Ring, 2021
The rugged, textured yellow gold mount, polished malachite disk and circumference of diamonds conjures a ring commissioned by an ancient order of astronomers to plot the orbit of a star in a distant, green banded galaxy…alternatively this was (possibly in a parallel universe) the ring worn by Nile Rodgers as he worked on the lyrics for “He’s the Greatest Dancer”...Grima, Gucci, Fiorucci!

Tourmaline Drop Earrings, 2021
Dress up or down with these gold and diamond earrings with detachable tourmaline drops. The tops of the earrings which at first sight resemble an abandoned game of “Pick-a-stick” are in fact artfully arranged gold batons accented with baguette diamonds which follow and flatter the contour of the ear. The detachable, faceted green tourmaline drops are suspended from a single, square-cut diamond and weigh 27.2 carats.
Green Tourmaline Necklace, 2021
This beautifully crafted necklace comprises 56 faceted green tourmalines, each framed and articulated by polished yellow gold wire allowing the jewel to sit perfectly on the wearer’s neck. The stones are held by bauble-shaped collets and accented by brilliant cut diamonds. The clasp is cleverly hidden behind one of the stones with a thumbpiece set with five diamonds. The overall effect is organic, elegant and sufficiently versatile to be worn with an evening dress or sweater and jeans.
Kunzite Drop Ring, 2009
Andrew Grima was renowned for his playful irreverence and refusal to treat a million pound diamond any different from a seashell or pebble. He once bought, on behalf of a wealthy customer, the most expensive diamond ever purchased at auction at the time: a 55 carat D colour, flawless drop. A few weeks later he presented a ring to the customer with a diagonal flash of diamonds set in platinum right across the table of this priceless stone, giving the impression it was covering up an enormous flaw. This 32 carat Kunzite drop with a diagonal band of brilliant cut diamonds set in white gold pays homage to the original.
Diamond & Pearl Brooch Pendant, 1996
This stunning brooch pendant was made shortly after Andrew Grima moved to Gstaad in Switzerland. The grey Tahiti drop pearl is detachable allowing the stylised white gold and diamond set “leaf” to be worn on it’s own as a brooch or with the pearl attached on a white gold collar as a pendant.
